Women’s Small Business Month

October is Women’s Small Business Month and we are so proud and honored to work with so many fellow female-led businesses!!!! Bettie Bomb prides themselves on supporting other women entrepreneurs and providing a positive platform to herald their accomplishments and every other bad ass thing they do! Empowered women, empower women and we truly love telling their stories. We work with so many phenomenal ladies in many different spaces. Let’s start with our longest running client, Dr. Nicole Williams, founder of Gynecology Institute of Chicago. We started in 2013 when she launched her own practice and has been a trailblazer ever since! Her philosophy of marrying both Eastern and Western medicine is unlike other practices – she focuses on a team approach for women's health recovery and includes both acupuncture and physical therapy. Her world travel experiences and core belief in "giving back" has not only shaped her medical practice but her entire life. Dr. Williams has an extensive research background for women's health and is a strong advocate working with local Congressman to pass legislation regarding mothers and reproductive rights. She is also dedicated to the welfare of women, traveling to the Dominican Republic twice, as well as Haiti, Cambodia, Ghana, and the Philippines to perform necessary gynecologic surgery. Read Dr. Williams' full bio here. Next up is, Shelly Herman, who co-founded Fresh Picks with her husband Irv Cernauskas out of their passion for good food, good health & the importance of a local food system. Both MIT graduates, they started Fresh Picks in 2006 partnering with local farms to bring the best organic produce, grass-fed meats, farm fresh eggs & dairy, baked goods, seasonal boxes, and other tasty grocery items to customers doorstep every week. After the pandemic started, they quickly became considered essential workers and continue to make sure people have access to fresh food with safe, contactless delivery. Shelly is a strong advocate for local farmers, all-natural foods grown without chemicals, hormones, antibiotics and GMOS as well as climate change. Her and her husband have cultivated strong relationships with farmers across the Midwest and support them through their Fresh Picks Farmer Alliance. They not only buy from them and deliver straight to the consumer, but their support through the alliance allows the farms to continue operating and produce more for the community. Shelly and her husband are equally passionate about eating local and it’s been their business model for 15 years. Read more about Fresh Picks here. A...
